A part of many API developers’ toolkit, this was all about to figuring out ways to make their workflow even faster, and easier.
The upgraded product had collaboration and API organization — “collections”. Shortcuts, hints, and feedback from reviews played a big part in design.
Postman’s user base grew from One million to over Two million during this time.
Before:
— User experience was tedious: Typing a request and finding send was hard and It got further away or hidden as the request body got longer
— Architecture was broken. The request body, auth and other workflows were either grouped or separated haphazardly
After:
— Information architecture improved. The send button moved next to the request and doesn’t move. Request body, authorization and other UX issues fixed
— Collections, a new way to organize APIs and other highly needed updates
The design process: collection schema, collaboration and request-response organization
